My Health Evolution

2 years between these pictures.

About 2 years ago,  I decided to take back my own health. I was addicted to carbs, dairy, and all things Uber Eats.  I weighed close to 240 pounds. I had lost my dad tragically to a heart attack and frankly, it was time for a change. I started working out consistently and cutting down on carbs. I lost 12 pounds in one month and I just kept going. Orangetheory changed my relationship with working out. The model of incorporating cardio with weight lifting really helped me get my core strength and endurance back. I honestly would still be doing Orangetheory Through the  “Whole 30” program I started to see how different foods affected my body. Cutting out different inflammatory foods allowed me to really figure out a relationship with food. I lost over 60 pounds and felt great. In January 2019, I watched “What the Health

For the 2019 New Year, I made a another commitment to my health. I  cut out dairy, eggs, and went “vegan” cold turkey. Yes, that’s right, no meat, no eggs, and no dairy.  Now, I know there are a group of people who get hype about what is defined as a “vegan” and “veganism”, what it means to be “plant-based”, and exactly what constitutes a “vegan lifestyle” but that isn’t me. Frankly, here is the truth, I don’t really care about the true definition of being a vegan. Yes, I love animals, but I am not here because of them. I have personal reasons why I chose to adopt a vegan diet and debates were not one of them. I chose to be a vegan to take back my health while also enjoying food. Lot’s of food.  It is a decision that I made after attempting dozens of different diets and lifestyles. I have realized that many of the dietary restrictions imposed by certain diets and lifestyles did not cater to my personal preferences and dietary needs. I supplement my diet with fish a couple times a week. I am happier and healthier than ever before.
